FPSC Islamabad

FPSC changes its recruitment test policy for posts from BS-18 to BS-21, the policy for recruitments in BS-16 and BS-17 shall remain the same.

Click the link to follow the details.

The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) is located at Aga Khan Road, sector F-5/1, (adjacent to Marriot Hotel), Islamabad. FPSC under the constitutional provisions of Article 242 of the constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, has been delegated the job of advertising, examining and recommending suitable candidates for the posts in connection with the affairs of the federation.

The commission (FPSC) regularly advertises vacant posts in different government departments under the federal government (of Pakistan) through different newspapers. The jobs advertised by FPSC can also be viewed at the FPSC website (http://www.fpsc.gov.pk/icms/user/jobs.php). Mostly its advertisements appear in the English Daily Newspaper "The News". If you cannot afford purchasing newspapers or do not have access to newspapers due to any other reason, you can view all the advertisements about jobs and admissions appearing in the newspapers at this website; www.paperpk.com. This website has a list of advertisements about Job Vacancies, Admissions and Tender Notices sorted datewise.

There are two types of recruitments made by FPSC called General Recruitment and recruitment through Competitive Examination. General Recruitment (GR) is carried on the whole year and every month vacancies are advertised in "The News" etc. Therefore read this newspaper regularly if you are a graduate and looking for employment under the government of Pakistan (or any province). The Competitive Examination commonly known as CSS is held only once every year for which applications are usually invited in the month of December (each year) via advertisements in the newspapers. Simple graduates having 14 years of education (passed with minimum 2nd division or 60% marks) are eligible to apply regardless of their domicile. But after testing, vacancies are filled in accordance with the quota of each administrative area / province. Note that graduates of any province of Pakistan including FATA, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are eligible to apply for the vacancies advertised by Federal Public Service Commission, Islamabad.

Till March 2013, candidates could apply for jobs at FPSC on prescribed manual forms (for the posts of BPS-16) and applying online was required only for posts above BPS-17; but from April 2013 onwards, FPSC has decided to accept only online applications for all grades (from BPS-16 to BPS-21). Therefore candidates are expected to have basic computing knowledge as they are themselves supposed to apply online for the posts advertised by the commission (FPSC) after April, 2013.

CSS 2013 Result

And finally the Result for CSS 2013 has been announced and a record low (2.09%) candidates have passed the examination. This depicts the poor standard of education and the low level of competition, despite the fact that nearly 14000 candidates had applied and 11400 had appeared in the examinations. But of them only 238 candidates were successful in passing all the subjects. The subject with the lowest passing percentage of candidates as usual was English Essay. Nevertheless the candidates who have passed need a little more effort to sustain their success and make way towards selection / recommendation for the civil service of Pakistan.
