Distance learning programs offered by Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology (SUIT)

Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology (SUIT), Peshawar, is a Private Sector university well known in Pakistan and abroad. It was established by the Govt. of KPK through an Ordinance in 2001 and given due recognition by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, as the HEC places the SUIT amongst the category W-3 universities.

According to Research Rankings released by the Higher Education Commission in 2011, SUIT got 2nd position.

Sarhad University imparts quality education in various fields of learning, both through regular and distance learning modes, and has a good national and international reputation. The university is recognized / accredited by the relevant national regulatory/accreditation bodies of HEC such as , Pharmacy Council of Pakistan, Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC),  National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC), Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), and National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE).

Distance Education Centers

Under its charter, the university can offer distance learning education. However, the distance learning approach adopted by SUIT is a hybrid one, and not a pure mode of virtual education such as that provided by the Virtual University of Pakistan. Under this hybrid system of distance learning, the distance students are admitted and delivered the course material at home, while they can attend lectures, seminars, workshops, use library and laboratory, and get help, guidance and counselling at established academic institutions called as Distance Education Centers (DECs).

The regulatory role of the university

The university designs and regulates the fee structure, degree programs offered, detailed course contents and other relevant study material, therefore the students do not have to worry about difference of quality in teaching and fees etc. in different affiliated DECs. The university also plans and administers the Examinations by itself. Results and degrees are disseminated by the university too.

HEC recognizes the distance / virtual education programs offered by the SUIT and the list of its DECs is also placed on the HEC website.
